Reimagining Dual Enrollment: Expanding Access Through Jessup High and CampusEDU
Discover how Jessup University is transforming the dual enrollment landscape through its innovative partnership with CampusEDU. Together, they have launched Jessup High, a fully online dual enrollment program designed to give high school students across the country the opportunity to earn college credits—anytime, anywhere.
This session will explore how the program leverages cinematic-quality, video-based courses, flexible learning schedules (8–15 week formats), and bi-weekly, instructor-led virtual sessions to create an engaging and accessible college experience for high school learners. With year-round availability and multiple start dates in the Spring, Summer, and Fall, Jessup High meets students where they are—academically, geographically, and financially.
Attendees will gain insights into:
- The strategic goals behind the Jessup–CampusEDU partnership
- How digital innovation is driving access and affordability in higher education
- The breadth of courses available, from New Testament and College Algebra to Art Appreciation and Sociology
- The program’s impact on college readiness and long-term student success
“Through this program, students can earn college credits at a significantly reduced cost and on a schedule that fits their lives,” says Angela Switzer, Vice President of Enrollment Management at Jessup University. “Jessup High is a direct expression of our commitment to making high-quality education more affordable and accessible.”
Join us to learn how the Homeschool community can reimagine early college access and empower the next generation of learners through technology, partnership, and purpose.
Soaring Higher: A Faith-Based Pathway to a Career in Aviation
Is your student dreaming of a future in the skies? Jessup University’s Aviation Program offers homeschool students a unique opportunity to launch a purpose-driven career in aviation—whether in the commercial, military, or missionary fields.
As one of the few faith-based collegiate aviation programs in Northern California, Jessup combines rigorous academic training with spiritual formation, preparing students to become ACE pilots: Adept, Certified, and Ethical. Students graduate not only with the skills and certifications needed for a successful aviation career, but also with a solid foundation of character and leadership.
Key highlights of the program include:
- A Letter of Agreement (LOA) with the FAA, allowing graduates to qualify for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP-R) certification with only 1,000 flight hours (instead of the standard 1,500)
- Year-round flight training through a nearby flight school in an area known for ideal flying conditions and breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada mountain range
- A robust academic curriculum covering aerodynamics, aviation law, meteorology, security, and airline operations from both domestic and global perspectives
- The option to pursue either a B.S. or B.A. in Aviation, tailored to a student’s professional goals and academic interests
This session is perfect for homeschool families seeking a Christ-centered university program that blends technical training with purpose-driven education. Come learn how Jessup University can equip your student to soar—academically, professionally, and spiritually.
Capital College & Career Academy
Capital College & Career Academy (CCCA) is a free charter high school in Sacramento. Founded as a non-profit in 2019, and opened its doors to its first class of 9th graders in 2023. CCCA opened its doors because we believed there was a better way to educate high school students. Too often, students were leaving high school without tangible skills or true direction for life after school. CCCA is seeking to change the narrative of what a high school education is and what it should be. CCCA stands on three instructional practices.
Hands-on learning across the curriculum: In ALL classes, some portion of the curriculum is delivered through hands-on learning. We do this for two reasons primarily. We know and the research confirms, that when students, from kindergarten to college, learn from working with the hands, the learning is deeper and more engaging. The second reason is allows us to add student agency or voice and choice into the work students complete.
Dual Enrollment: Starting in 9th grade, students are highly encouraged to take dual enrollment classes through our partnership with American River College. We are the only high school in Sacramento to have an agreement allowing our students to take classes on the campuses of American River College and CSU Sacramento. Dual Enrollment is built into the daily schedule. For those motivated students, they can finish two years of college for free while in high school.
Career Education: CCCA has a requirement that for all 4 years of high school, a student must be enrolled in a career education course. This path aligns with the Work-Based Learning Continuum. We start with career exposure in 9th grade, bringing upwards of 16 different industry partners, mostly focused on the construction industry, to work side by side with students. Students learn about jobs and the pathways into those careers. Then we transition to career exploration, with a job shadow program. Students spend about 45 hours a semester at a company learning and seeing all aspects of that company. Then in 11th and 12th grade, we move into career preparation with paid internships.
CCCA is a small school, capacity is 400 students, but as the 2025-26 school year, we anticipate having about 200 students and grades 9, 10, and 11. We have a low student-to-staff ratio where no student falls through the cracks. We participate in CIF sports in boys’ and girls’ soccer, volleyball, basketball, track, and cross country. We intend to add more sports and activities as we grow, considering robotics, dance, and competitive gaming teams. CCCA is enrolling now at capcca.org
